Research

It all starts with asking yourself some important questions – why are you building/renovating and what do you want out of the project? Think about what you like (and don’t like!) – look for inspiration online and in the real world. Try to categorise your wish list into ‘must haves’ and ‘nice to haves’. It’s important to do your research when it comes to finding the right builder too – you need a builder that you like and trust, someone with similar values who will understand what’s important to you. If you can, try to speak to some previous clients of the builder that you’re considering.

Planning

Now you’ll need the input of an architect/draftsperson/designer – and your builder. By working with H3 Builders, you’ll have the experience and expertise of the business owner, Dean Harrison, on your side from day one. This can really pay dividends when it comes to knowing what’s possible within your budget. After all, a key part of the planning phase is costing out the project.

H3 Builders is happy to work with your chosen architect or designer, or they can refer you to one of their trusted contacts. As an NZCB Approved Builder, H3 Builders also has access to Certified Plans and can help provide you with an architecturally designed plan.
Once plans are finalised, then it’s into the council for consent (if required).

Time to start building!

It’s an exciting process, but it can be stressful. H3 Builders aims to reduce stress by ensuring you’re kept informed throughout the build.
